Phase diagram of heavy fermion systems

The Meccano of heavy fermion systems is shown on different cases going from anomalous monochalcogenides to cerium intermetallic compounds with special focus on the ideal case of the CeRu2Si2 series. Discussion is made in the frame of the interplay between valence, electronic structure (Fermi surface), and magnetism. The nice tools given by the temperature, the pressure, and the magnetic field a...

Phase diagram of doped spin-Peierls systems

The phase diagram of a model describing doped CuGeO3 is derived. The model emphasizes the role of local moments released by the impurities and randomly distributed inside the gaped singlet background. The phase diagram is investigated by two methods: (i) in a mean field treatment of the interchain coupling and (ii) in a real space decimation procedure in a two dimensional model of randomly dist...

Ergodicity of self - attracting motion ∗

We study the asymptotic behaviour of a class of self-attracting motions on R. We prove the decrease of the free energy related to the system and mix it together with stochastic approximation methods. We finally obtain the (limit-quotient) ergodicity of the self-attracting diffusion with a speed of convergence.

Phase diagram of self-assembled viral capsid protein polymorphs.

We present an experimental study of the self-assembly of capsid proteins of the cowpea chlorotic mosaic virus (CCMV), in the absence of the viral genome, as a function of pH and ionic strength. In accord with previous measurements, a wide range of polymorphs can be identified by electron microscopy, among them single and multiwalled shells and tubes. The images are analyzed with respect to size...

On self-attracting random walks

In this survey paper we mainly discuss the results contained in two of our recent articles [2] and [5]. Let {Xt}t≥0 be a continuous-time, symmetric, nearest-neighbour random walk on Zd. For every T > 0 we define the transformed path measure dP̂T = (1/ZT ) exp(HT ) dP, where P is the original one and ZT is the appropriate normalizing constant. The Hamiltonian HT imparts the self-attracting intera...
